Legal Information
Weddings in Scotland carry slightly different laws to those in the rest of the UK. The local Registrar will deal with marriage preliminaries for all civil and religious marriages which are to take place in their district. The Bride and the Bridegroom each have to complete a Marriage Notice form (Form M10) and submit them to the Registrar for the district in which the marriage is to take place, at least 14 clear days before the date of the marriage along with the appropriate fee. Normally birth certificates and proof of dissolution of a former marriage is also required. All enquiries should be directed to the local Registrar to ensure that the additional information based on the individuals’ cases is given.
