Thanks for all those who came and tasted the exotic fruit and healthy dips at the Run 4 Health event. Lots of positive comments about the food, it looks like the dragon fruit won the day with it's looks, and love it or hate it taste………..!!

Well done to all of the ladies who ran, walked and pushed buggies at yesterday's run 4 health. The weather stayed dry and hopefully some of Russell's delicious exotic fruits and Glen Urr's delicious sorbets kept everyone refreshed. Also well done to Devorgilla Rotary Club for the slick organisation on the day. Don't forget the men's race later this summer.

Don't forget to visit the main hall at Easterbrook this Sunday where Russell will be preparing some healthy treats from the Easterbrook stand and Laura will be on hand with all of the latest news and offers from Easterbrook Hall. The weather is looking pretty good for the run and could be quite hot so remember the water!
Best of luck to all participants and we look forward to see you there.

Working with budding Chefs...
I have recently judged a masterchef for S2 at St Joseph’s College, where the pupils had 45 mins to prepare a two course meal, working in teams of two. I enjoyed meeting the pupils, but never thought judging would be so hard! There were very good standards all round. The wining team cooked a beautiful main course, and an excellent chocolate fondant. The over all presentation of the food and table were second to none.
Today, I'm off to Schools Rural opportunities day, at Wallace Hall Academy, Thornhill. This is an opportunity for the pupils to have an hand-on experience and ask any questions about the hospitality trade. The primary pupils can have a go at decorating biscuits and the secondary will be looking at plate designs for desserts. In total I'm expecting 435 pupils to pass through the hall.
Supporting our local campaign
I'm also involved in Savour the flavours food champion campaign. This is where local chefs are trying to create a forum for other chefs to promote usage of locally produced products - something I believe to be really important. Next meeting very soon, for more info visit their website.
Come and see me at Run 4 Health
I will be in the Main Hall for Run 4 Health on Sunday 27th June. To keep in with the theme of healthy eating and lifestyle, we are having a tasting table of healthy food with a eclectic mix of unusual fruits, vegetables as well as tapenades, houmous and guacamole. Come and have a taste! To sign up for Run 4 Health or find out more, visit their website.

Pavlova is so simple but what better way to show-case the new season Scottish strawberries & raspberries? Made successfully, the sweet marshmallow inner will eat lovely with the sharp fruit flavours.
Pavlova Recipe
3 egg whites
6oz caster sugar
¾ tsp vanilla essence
¾ tsp vinegar
1½ tsp cornflour
whipped cream
your choice of seasonal fruits
Whisk egg whites with half the sugar until frothy. Add remaining sugar & ingredients, whisk until soft peaks are formed. Pipe individual pavlovas on to a tray lined with silicon paper. Bake for about 30min at 100ºc. They are ready when you can easy lift them up off the silicon paper. Allow to cool, and add whipped cream and fruit of your choice on top.
