Q- Describe what you do at Easterbrook
I’m the general manager of the venue, so I guide and direct both the business and the team. This means two days are never the same nor are they ever long enough. I can be found on any day participating in the creation of a marketing campaign, developing a new product or service, managing events and hoovering when the housekeeping needs a helping hand!
Q- What is the most enjoyable thing about working at Easterbrook?
There are 2 very enjoyable aspects to my work at Easterbrook; the first would be that I create memorable, quality, professional events with a group of very passionate interesting people who work with me. The other is that even after 22 years I never tire of the absolute pleasure I get from sharing very special days with our clients, particularly brides.
Q- Who is the most interesting person you have met at work?
I have through my years in hospitality met many very interesting people to include a few pop stars, almost all of the Royal family, great business leaders and politicians. The most interesting person I have met at Easterbrook would without doubt be Sir Ranulph Fiennes who gave a talk about his adventures. A great man and pioneer who has the record for the longest polar journey in history. He showed slides of the explorations which was so dangerous that it might well have been his last… a real example of determination which I admired.
Q- Tell us what your favourite activity is at work and why
Most would expect me to say putting together the new wine lists because it means sampling lots of great wine… but it is coaching staff because I get huge levels of motivation from the fact that I have an influence on the development of individuals within the team.
Q- What motivates you?
Quite simply success!
Q- What is your ambition for Easterbrook
My vision for Easterbrook is very clear, to grow the business successfully which will allow us to invest in further development of the dormant space in the south wing.
Q- Describe a personal achievement.
Recently I completed a NVQ level 5 in business management which I consider to be a great achievement. I also have a few adrenaline type achievements such as doing a skydive and abseiling down the outside of a lighthouse
Q- What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
As a working Mum there is not much spare time!! But I love the cinema even though it is mainly children’s films I watch these days.
